The RT3® Technology is compatible with Android. The interface is customizable, allowing customers to select the data they capture and how that information is displayed.

Two Software Solutions

Software with GPS

This is the most useful for customers testing many different locations, over extended distances, where they want to see in real-time friction values mapped.

Each data point is added to the map, like a bread crumb. Each breadcrumb contains a data/time stamp, friction value, speed, distance, steering, longitude, latitude and heading. This information can be downloaded into an excel spreadsheet.

Software with Graphing

For researchers who are testing the same section of road over and over again, where GPS mapping is not important, then the Android graphed solution might be best for you.

This solutions is good for repeated tests on the same stretch of road which is less than 13,000 feet, and information is provided in a graphical output of the friction value.

How the software solution with GPS works

The chain of information from the RT3 control panel, to a tablet, to a website, to the cloud storage database

Each customer has their own dedicated website.  The information is stored in their database. They can watch in real-time, look at past tests in the map format or download data in excel.

  • This is the primary solution for our roadway customers.
  • REAL TIME
  • Simple interface
  • GPS data is included
  • Great for longer distances where the GPS and mapping function is valuable
  • Saves the data to the phone and the website database.
  • As the test is being completed, you can see the results on any computer that is connected to the World Wide Web. §Color coding of the “cookie” crumbs can be coordinated to customers values red (poor), yellow (moderate), green (good).
  • Output: Map or Excel File
    • Friction, GEM 1, GEM 2, Combined Friction, Speed, Steering, Lat, Long, Date/time stamp

HOW THE SOFTWARE WITH GRAPHING SOLUTION WORKS

A table showing friction readings

For researchers who are testing the same section of road over and over again, where GPS mapping is not important, then the graphed solution might be best for you.

This solutions is good for repeated tests on the same stretch of road which is less than 13,000 feet, and information is provided in a graphical output of the friction value. This software works in the same way as the GPS solution, but generates a graph of the surface testing results.

  • Good for repeated tests on the same stretch of road (less than 13,000 feet).
  • Graphical output of the friction value.
  • Allows you to track lots of information about the run (but does not track GPS)
  • The color coding can be set to the friction values you wish for red (poor), yellow (moderate) and green (good) on the graph.
  • Lots of data entry fields that you can track the specifics of the test.

It is very easy for us to create drop down fields in the program so you can choose a selection to help define the test. These fields can be changed or removed based on your request. Each drop down list can be customized.

Examples include:

  • Speed – 20, 30, 40, 50, etc km/hour.
  • Conditions – rain, ice, wet snow, dry snow etc.
  • Treatment type – chemical, salt, liquid, solid
  • Last time cleared by – broom, plow, both
  • Measurement trigger – why are you doing the test
  • Tire tread depth

Halliday Technologies is committed to promoting environmental sustainability.

We choose each product in the manufacturing process to be durable. Ensuring the RT3® is built to last, we can drive down life cycle costs for our customers. Additionally, through objective and reliable data, our customers can reduce their chemical and salt usage during winter events by optimizing their treatment approach.
